Impact of the WolfNet Pipeline

By |2018-09-27T12:09:03-07:00September 25th, 2018|Clients|Comments Off on Impact of the WolfNet Pipeline

There is a silent battle going on in real estate search. As consumers visit multiple websites and have numerous searches saved, the website that delivers the first alert to the consumer gets the click. All subsequent alerts from other sites are rendered as old news: they’re unread and deleted. It’s only natural. Today, WolfNet announced a new service level of managing IDX data optimized for speed called Pipeline.

By |2018-09-25T10:21:47-07:00September 25th, 2018|Uncategorized|Comments Off on CoreLogic Trestle Web API Earns RESO Platinum Certification

CoreLogic shared some good news today. Their Trestle data distribution solution that provides MLSs with RESO compliant web API transmission capabilities was upgraded to Platinum-level certification. I am sure that they will be spreading the good news to their customers at the Council of MLS meetings that start in Orlando, FL tomorrow. Some MLSs who were on the fence about signing up for Trestle cited Platinum-level Web API as their demand. Now CoreLogic can hook them up with the highest standard.

Disruptors Are Really Only Innovators and Motivators

By |2018-10-01T07:55:24-07:00September 24th, 2018|Uncategorized|Comments Off on Disruptors Are Really Only Innovators and Motivators

If you have not seen the 2007 film, A Hero Ain’t Nothing But a Sandwich, don’t bother. It’s a pretty depressing story about a young boy who gets hooked on heroin. But I love the title. It takes a word like Hero, with its multiple meanings and twists it into something profound. One of most important impressions that I got from the RISMedia CEO Summit last week is that the meaning of Disruptors can be twisted around too.

MLS Fair Input Guidelines

By |2018-09-18T06:57:56-07:00September 17th, 2018|Uncategorized|Comments Off on MLS Fair Input Guidelines

Mitch Skinner of the law firm, Larson Skinner did a wonderful post on their website that drafted a framework around MLS Fair Input Guidelines. This is a major topic for our nation’s MLSs and it is time for collaboration and thought leadership. Let me begin by complimenting Skinner on his efforts. If you have not seen the post, you may want to buzz over and look at A Conversation About Fair Input Guidelines before contemplating this article. My hope is that this will be on the agenda at the upcoming fall conference of the Council of MLS in Orlando, hosted by My Florida Regional MLS.

5 Reasons Why MLSs Should Dump Listing Syndication as a Service

There is little doubt about the value that an MLS provides to brokers though the IDX and VOW services it offers. The ability for a broker or agent to have a full feed of MLS data to deliver a property search solution to their buyers is vital, and part of the centerpiece of cooperation between brokers that is foundational to MLS. IDX is a good thing.

Eric Forsman, Vice President of Technology Services of the Florida Realtors, echoed what I was thinking when I bumped into him at the inaugural National Association of REALTORS® iOi conference in San Francisco. “I didn’t know what to expect,” he said. And like Eric, I had the same reaction: we were both remarkably impressed.

Open API? Yes! Check that Box.

One conversation that is critical in today’s ecosystem of integrated platforms; is the Application Programming Interface (API) checkbox. Here is how a typical conversation on this topic is between a brokerage and their vendor partner. Brokerage:Does your platform have an API to support integration with other tools we support with our agents? Tech Company:Yes! We have an Open API and we integrate with thousands and thousands of applications (a little exaggeration ;) ). Brokerage:Cool! (marking off the checkbox on the list of requirements)

Moxiworks Refutes Compass’ Claims Regarding Technology and Market Share

Wow, just saw this and just HAD to comment. It’s rare that we see brokers go at each other so publicly about their competitive claims, but I have to say this letter is pretty interesting. The real estate industry is rife with hyperbole and marketing claims. Our industry’s preference of opinion over fact is one of the main reasons I started a research practice within WAV Group. The birth of business intelligence is allowing brokerages new ways to substantiate or refute claims like the article from Moxiworks shown below. Moxiworks is using MLS data married with BI tools to refute [...]

Three Stories for You to Read: Amazon, Cybersecurity, App Dev

By |2018-08-04T18:15:52-07:00July 16th, 2018|Cyber, Strategic Planning, Technology|Comments Off on Three Stories for You to Read: Amazon, Cybersecurity, App Dev

In the advent of Inman Connect this week, these were three stories I found which piqued my interest this last week. Will Amazon Uber-ize the Real Estate Industry? Cisco and Juniper Networks stocks slipped last Friday on news from The Information that Amazon was entering the $14 billion data center equipment business. While searching for more news I stumbled upon investment firm, TwinRock Partners, article about Amazon and real estate.
