AI as the fixer

AI as the fixer

Most agents think of ChatGPT as something you use to create things. Write a post. Draft an email. Come up with ideas.

But that’s not its only superpower.

A great unlock is to use AI to help you fix things.

A better word. Improve a phrase. Alter a sentence. Tweak a subject, headline, or subhead that’s almost right. Make something technical less confusing.

Think about any problem you can’t quite resolve and know that’s something’s off.

It’s why I have a folder in my ChatGPT Business account called Fixes. If something isn’t working, it goes in there.

Here’s my best tip to fix things with AI: screenshots and photos. We often forget that perhaps the most incredible thing that Gen AI can do is read an image.

By providing ChatGPT an image of your problem, you’ll discover that it’s shockingly good at diagnosing what’s wrong and telling you how to fix it fast.

Writing fixes you’ll use every day

This is the low-hanging fruit. It’s where your paid chatbot can save you the most time throughout your day.

Drop in a word, a sentence, a phrase, or a paragraph and ask it to improve it without changing your meaning. It’s especially good at fixing grammar without rewriting your voice.

It can help that one part you are struggling with be more readable: tweak a slogan, create a more engaging headline, draft clever subheads, and generate subject lines that get a higher open rate.

Use it to turn a negatively phrased sentence into a positive one instantly. Improve CTAs (call to action) that feel salesy or intrusive. Ask it to help you rewrite something to match AP Style.

Did you know that if you take a headline in all caps and copy it into ChatGPT’s prompt box, it converts it automatically into proper case headline – without hitting enter?

You don’t need to start over. Just fix what’s already there. One chunk at a time.

Tech and workflow fixes

This is where real estate agents and brokers may not realize AI can help.

If something isn’t working, take a screenshot.

Upload it and ask: “What’s going wrong here?” Or “What am I doing wrong?”

I’ve used this to fix iPhone issues, like when autocorrect repeatedly mangled a person’s name using voice-to-text. ChatGPT gave me the fix instantly. Google sucked at this.

Did your go-to online tool – think Canva or Facebook – just create a new interface or layout, and you can’t find that feature you use every day? Avoid waiting hours for a response from tech support. Take a screenshot and ask ChatGPT for help.

It has helped me diagnose desktop and laptop issues when they suddenly stopped behaving, and help get unstuck inside WordPress and Elementor when I knew what I wanted to do but forgot how to do it!

Explain to ChatGPT what you’re trying to accomplish. Show it where you’re stuck with a photo or screenshot. AI connects the dots way faster than searching Reddit groups.

Visual and design fixes

Speaking of Canva, a lot of agents I know live in Canva. Yet this one still surprises them.

You can upload an image of a solid color and request the HEX code to match it exactly. No guessing. No color picking roulette.

You can also use AI to help identify a font family or figure out where Canva hid its Image Upscaler feature. Describe what you’re trying to do in Canva and let AI help instead of clicking through menus or searching.

And yes, it fixes plenty of other things too

I recently told a room full of local Windermere Real Estate agents this story at their weekly meeting. It landed because it’s so human.

I replaced a showerhead at home. Everything looked fine. Except there was a leak at the base of the shower arm. Instead of guessing, I took a photo, uploaded it to ChatGPT, and asked what was wrong with it.

It immediately said, “You probably forgot the O-ring.” I went back and checked the packaging. Sure enough, I had.

That’s the reminder. Generative AI can be a fixer. For work. For tech. For everyday life. (-Kevin)
