AI to audit your website

When was the last time you looked at your own website the way a stranger would?
Not as the owner. Not as the agent who knows the market inside and out. But as a potential seller or buyer who landed there from a Google search – or a chatbot answer – and is deciding in seven seconds whether to trust you.
Here’s something most agents don’t realize: ChatGPT can act as a first-level website auditor. Not a designer. Not a developer. Not a cybersecurity firm. But a powerful second set of eyes that can quickly surface weaknesses hiding in plain sight.
Think of it as a website audit cheat code
If you provide your site’s URL, the paid versions of ChatGPT can review publicly accessible pages and evaluate your content, structure, and the technical nuts and bolts of your website.
ChatGPT can assess whether your value proposition is a clear differentiator or too “me too.” Many agent sites open with headlines like “Your Trusted Real Estate Professional.” That sounds nice. It also sounds like everyone else.
It can also flag weak CTAs, or calls to action. Are you clearly telling visitors what to do next? Schedule a consultation? Download a how-to guide? Get a reliable home value estimate? Or are you hoping they’ll go to the bottom of your page and copy-and-paste your email address? Poor CTA placement quietly kills opportunity.
Are you using trust signals?
Before someone hires you, they look for proof. Not what you say about yourself, but what confirms it. Trust signals are the visible credibility markers on your website that reassure visitors you’re legitimate, experienced, and knowledgeable.
ChatGPT can evaluate trust signals, from reviews and certifications to third-party media mentions, and even whether your privacy policy is easy to find and current. Broken trust signals are the small cracks that make a potential customer hesitate, or worse, click and leave.
SEO analysis
From a Search Engine Optimization standpoint, ChatGPT can review how your site is structured and whether it’s helping or hurting your visibility. It can analyze the guts of SEO: headline hierarchy, keyword alignment, content depth, and internal linking. It looks to see if your pages are built for clarity or confusion.
ChatGPT can also identify whether you’re using schema. That’s the behind-the-scenes code that tells Google exactly what your content is, such as a local business, an article, a review, or an FAQ. Without schema, search engines are guessing. With it, you’re giving them clear instructions.
ChatGPT can also assess whether your content is structured to perform well in today’s answer-driven environment. Search engines and AI chatbots both favor content that clearly answers questions, defines terms, and demonstrates authority. This emerging website strategy is often referred to as Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
Top-level security review
On the security side, ChatGPT can perform a surface-level check of what’s visible to the public. It can confirm that your website is using secure HTTPS encryption, flag obvious page-loading issues, and review the basic technical guts that signal whether your site is set up securely. ChatGPT can also spot obvious red flags that might expose more information than you intend. But remember, this is a posture review, not a deep forensic exam.
Use this Master Prompt
If you want to try this yourself, copy and paste this prompt into ChatGPT:
“Act as a real estate website auditor. Review this site: [insert your URL]. Assume the goal is to generate seller and buyer leads in my local market. Provide a high-level audit covering: clarity of value proposition, headline strength, calls to action, trust signals, SEO structure, content depth, outdated content risks, privacy policy visibility, mobile user experience, and surface-level security posture. Identify weaknesses I can fix myself and explain why they matter. Be specific and actionable.”

You don’t need to be techie. You just need to be curious.
After all, your website is your digital office. AI can’t replace a full website audit by a professional. But it can show you, in minutes, what your visitors may be seeing that you’re missing. (-Kevin)
