Google Voice debuts disruptive AI-powered phone planGoogle Voice AI Phone Plan

Google just made another move that could put pricing pressure on Proptech AI software firms.

Google Voice Premium, powered by Gemini, brings AI-enabled call summaries, transcripts and notetaking into a new business phone offering. The plan is normally $20 a month, but Google is discounting it to $10 a month for the first six months.

That price alone makes this worth watching as some agents are paying three to thirty times what Google is offering for the price of a couple of Starbucks a month.

More than a phone

This is not just another phone service upgrade.

Google Voice Premium includes a surprisingly strong list of business features:

  • AI call notes powered by Gemini
  • Call transcripts
  • AI summaries
  • Call recording
  • Business phone number
  • Business texting
  • Three-way calling
  • Call transfers
  • Auto attendant
  • Desk phone support
  • 911 support

For agents, the appeal is obvious. Phone calls are still where much of the most important work happens: buyer consults, seller services, inspection follow-ups, vendor calls and agent-to-agent conversations.

When AI captures those calls, summarizes the next steps and helps agents stay focused instead of scribbling notes, that is a practical use case.

The price pressure is real

This is where Google’s move gets interesting.

The company is not just adding Gemini to Voice. It is bundling AI into its Google Workspace ecosystem at a price point that will frighten many standalone AI and Proptech firms with similar offerings.

Let’s be clear. Google Voice Premium will not replace every AI assistant, notetaking app or similar real estate-specific offerings. Many specialized AI tools may still offer deeper integrations, better workflows and features built specifically for agents.

But Google does not have to beat every tool feature for feature to change the market. It only has to make agents ask a simple question:

Why am I paying separately for this?

Protecting agents

When you enable AI note-taking in two-party consent states, like California, Florida or Washington, Google Voice Premium announces that the call is being recorded and captured by AI.

For most agents, the automated announcement will be fine. But for those using Google Workspace through their brokerage or business account, Google offers the ability to personalize and customize the announcement. You can explain that the recording allows AI to take notes for you so you can stay focused on the conversation.

The bigger picture

The impact for agents is that AI capabilities once sold as standalone products are becoming built-in features. As Google, Microsoft and others keep bundling AI into everyday business software, Proptech AI companies will face more pressure to prove why their tools are worth a separate monthly fee. (-Kevin)
