How to stop AI slop

AI slop is everywhere.
It’s the copy-and-paste-and-pray content that sounds polished but says nothing, feels like no one, and often gets posted with little review, direction or human judgment.
The fix isn’t using less AI. The fix is using AI better.
I watched an AI training video this week that reminded me why good AI education for real estate agents matters so much. In the video, the host suggested that chatbots have zero memory and that users must re-enter everything they want the chatbot to know every single time they start a new chat.
That’s just wrong.
Chatbots have massive memory
Professional subscription chatbots today, including the business-grade versions of ChatGPT Business, Gemini Pro, and Claude Pro, allow users to set personalization instructions, preferences, and writing guidance that can carry across chats and projects. In other words, your bot does not have to start from scratch every time you ask it to help you.
That matters because if agents are taught the wrong thing at the beginning, they never learn one of AI’s most powerful skills: personalization.
Personalization is the slop killer
This week, during my “7-Day AI Challenge” training for Stellar MLS customers, agents were blown away when they saw how much they could personalize their chatbot. In effect, they were creating a master prompt through their settings, one that helps guide nearly every response that follows.
That’s the real superpower.
A professional chatbot can learn who you are, what kind of clients you serve, how you like to communicate, what tone you prefer, what phrases or punctuation you hate, what kind of content you create, and how you want your writing to sound.
Even better, all agents have to do to keep training their bot is continue to “feed the beast” by continuing to give it examples of their best writing. That could be a newsletter, a client letter, a blog post, a social post, or even a thoughtful email that nailed it.
That’s how you stop AI slop. You certainly don’t need an AI agent or agentic solution to do it.
Don’t put you and your business at risk by throwing it all away
This is also why agents should be careful about jumping into every new agentic AI tool without understanding what they may be giving up.
Many agents have spent months, and in some cases, years, training their professional chatbot. They have corrected it, refined it, fed it examples, built projects, created workflows, and taught it how they think.
Starting over in a new AI agent system may mean losing that advantage.
There are also major AI safety and security issues: Most agents do not have the technology, training or guardrails to safely build their own agentic AI systems – even though they could with today’s vibe coding tools and AI agent builders. They may look easy, but the risk increases exponentially when connecting tasks, tools, permissions, and data across different tech ecosystems.
For most agents, the smarter move is not to chase the shiniest new AI toy. It’s to get better at using the professional AI tool they already have.
Good writing still requires good judgment
AI can help you write faster. It can help you brainstorm, organize, summarize, edit, and repurpose content, and as I teach agents, a heck of a lot more beyond content creation.
But AI cannot replace an agent’s market knowledge. It does not know your clients the way you do. It does not understand the local chemistry of a neighborhood or the story behind a home.
That’s your job and you are damn good at t.
Good writing is still good writing, and it can come from a combination of AI speed and agent expertise. The goal is not to make AI simply sound more human. The goal is to make your AI sound just like you.
That’s how agents stop creating AI slop and start creating content that is simply good content. (-Kevin)
