Unlocking agent AI use

Every year, Delta Media publishes the real estate industry’s benchmark AI Survey. Since Delta launched its annual AI survey three years ago, it has offered a rare look behind the curtain at how real estate professionals are actually using artificial intelligence. Not the demos. Not the marketing. The real, everyday behavior of agents trying to figure out where AI fits into their business.
The big takeaway is simple. AI is no longer optional in real estate. It is already part of how agents work. In fact, 97 percent of brokerage leaders say their agents are using AI today.
So, the real question is not whether agents are using AI. It is how.
Speed first. Strategy later.
Not surprisingly, content creation dominates. The Delta Media AI Survey found 82 percent of agents use AI to help write emails, social posts, blogs, bios, and other everyday communication. That makes sense. Content is visible. It takes time. And AI is good at it right out of the gate.
From there, usage drops but remains meaningful. Roughly half of agents use AI to write property listing descriptions. Just under half rely on it to summarize reports, meetings, and long documents. Social media planning follows close behind. Marketing support, CRM automation, data analysis, and basic administrative tasks all cluster in the same general range.
This is not accidental. Agents are using generative AI (chatbots) for things they already understand. Familiar tasks. Low risk. Immediate payoff.
This is a productivity story
The Delta Media AI Survey also shows what agents are not doing yet. There is no mass adoption of advanced AI workflows. Fewer agents are using AI for lead qualification, client service automation, or deeper operational support. Image creation and virtual staging remain niche. Voice-based tools barely register.
That is not a failure. It is a phase.
Right now, AI is helping agents move faster through work they already know how to do. It is not reshaping how most agents run their business. At least, not yet.
Daily use changes everything
Here is the part that matters most. Most agents are using AI occasionally. Not daily. And that difference is bigger than it sounds.
Occasional use delivers answers. Daily use builds familiarity. Over time, daily use creates alignment. When an agent uses a paid AI tool like ChatGPT Plus or ChatGPT Business consistently, it begins to reflect their voice, their preferences, and how they work. It anticipates direction. It surprises in good ways.
It’s not magic. It’s repetition.
The real unlock
The Delta Media AI Survey shows an industry that has crossed the adoption line. The next phase is about unlocking measurable value.
For brokerages, that means building the right AI infrastructure and guardrails. For agents, it is not about chasing more free AI tools. It is about consistency. It is about using AI every day. And it is about using paid, secure AI tools that are appropriate for business use.
AI becomes most valuable when it is used regularly, intentionally, and safely. (-Kevin)
