Inside Real Estate is expanding the capabilities of its BoldTrail BackOffice transaction management platform with ComplianceAI, a new artificial intelligence assistant designed to help brokerages identify potential compliance issues earlier and manage transaction reviews more efficiently. (Note: Boldtrail Backoffice was formally known as BrokerMint). Compliance support is a top use of AI in real estate. AI is great at looking at documents.

Developed in partnership with real estate compliance automation company SetWave, ComplianceAI reviews transaction documents within the BoldTrail BackOffice workflow. The technology can check files for missing forms, required fields, initials and signatures while also flagging inconsistent information across a transaction packet.

The system is intended to give brokers, compliance teams and transaction coordinators an additional layer of support before a transaction closes. When ComplianceAI identifies a potential issue, users receive a visual compliance report, and the results are updated directly within BoldTrail BackOffice. Because the capability is integrated into the existing platform, users do not need to sign in to a separate application.

This approach moves part of the compliance-review process closer to the moment documents are submitted. Instead of waiting until the end of a transaction to discover an incomplete form or overlooked signature, brokerage staff can address flagged items while the deal is still underway.

“ComplianceAI brings that compliance directly into the workflow our customers already use, catching issues before closing instead of after,” said Joe Skousen, CEO of Inside Real Estate.

An AI companion—not a replacement for broker oversight

While ComplianceAI can help identify small but consequential document issues, responsibility for compliance remains with the supervising broker. The technology does not replace a broker’s professional judgment, legal obligations or final review. Rather, it acts as an AI companion that can perform an initial inspection of transaction files and direct the broker’s attention to areas that may require action.

That distinction is important. Real estate transactions frequently contain large document packages, and even experienced reviewers can spend significant time checking every page, field, initial and signature. By assisting with this detailed work, ComplianceAI may allow supervising brokers and their teams to oversee a larger volume of transactions more efficiently while maintaining human control over compliance decisions.

The system is also expected to become increasingly effective as its detection capabilities are refined through assisted transaction workflows and real-world feedback. Over time, that refinement can help the technology recognize increasingly subtle details and recurring document problems. Broker oversight will remain essential, however, particularly when an issue requires interpretation rather than the straightforward detection of a missing or inconsistent item.

A broader AI strategy for BoldTrail

ComplianceAI is one part of Inside Real Estate’s broader artificial intelligence strategy. The company also announced upcoming support for Model Context Protocol, or MCP, in BoldTrail BackOffice. MCP is an open standard designed to let authorized AI assistants securely interact with business systems and data. You can book a demo here.

Inside Real Estate says the planned connection could eventually allow brokers, agents and staff to use AI assistants for tasks such as opening transactions, preparing paperwork, validating offers, reducing duplicate data entry, generating pipeline reports and supporting post-closing follow-up.

The company is also developing Streams Studio, an MCP-native AI platform intended to connect systems across a brokerage’s technology stack. Together, these initiatives point toward an increasingly AI-enabled real estate operation encompassing compliance, transaction management, marketing and lead generation.

For BoldTrail BackOffice customers, the immediate benefit of ComplianceAI is more focused: an extra set of digital eyes reviewing transaction documents for the small omissions that can create significant problems later.

With the supervising broker retaining responsibility for every compliance determination, the new assistant is best understood as a force multiplier—helping professionals review transactions more consistently, resolve issues sooner and manage growing transaction volumes without surrendering human oversight.
