MRIS providing aid to Homeless Shelter

I caught this article this morning on the Property Portal Blog. MRIS provides this inspiration to other MLSs around the nation. If there was ever a cause that the MLS and Associations of REALTORS should support - it has got to be helping the homeless. Print this article and bring it to your next board of directors meeting. Get approval to help out your local homeless shelter.   Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS), one of the largest MLS portals in the US serving the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area including Maryland, Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and parts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, has announced that it has entered into a title [...]

Looking for better ways to announce a system upgrade with your members? Check out this great example!

Whenever we conduct member satisfaction surveys for MLSs, there are many suggestions from members about ways to improve MLS tools and services.  Of course, many MLSs listen to their clients and make the requested changes.  Over time these improvements help to increase the overall satisfaction of the MLS with its members. Here’s a way to jump start the process of improving customer satisfaction.  Make sure that your subscribers know that you are listening and responding by giving them credit for making the suggestion in the first place. Here’s a great example of this I wanted to share with you.  There [...]

MRIS launches iPad Support

MRIS announced today that they now support subscribers gaining access to MRIS via the iPad. In a message sent out to subscribers today, MRIS indicated that the release of this functionality was based upon customer feedback. For some REALTORS, the iPad has become the “can’t live without it” device. An agent’s life is on the road, running to meetings, attending open houses, showing property, and networking. With the iPad coupled with MRIS, their business can hit the road with them. The MRIS launch strategy to support the iPad started with MRIS.com. Efforts are underway to make a Matrix/Keystone interface for [...]

Is an MLS Like a bank?

I have been rather absorbed with the problems with Intuit the past couple of days.  They went down tuesday night and we had to switch our payment processing over to paypal during the outage.  Thankfully, we had a backup plan. Our back up plan gets simulated monthly across all systems.  Thankfully it worked when it needed to, but not without the full on efforts of the development team. I was able to sit down with David Charon of Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (MRIS) last week.  I am not sure how it came up, but he mentioned that his MLS system produces around [...]

A web services lesson from Quickbooks

When it comes to web services, Quickbooks gets it.  They understand that the work begins after the sale, not leading up to it. I recently had the opportunity to attend the RIS Media conference.  There was a room full of vendors barking about the promised land that would be achieved magically through the adoption of thier products - generate more leads, track this, engage consumers this way, reduce costs here.  In preparation for my panel address to the audience, I asked each booth to talk to me about thier support and training services.  What happens after the sale? The responses [...]
