Wire Transfer scams continue to plague the real estate industry, but brokers are deploying countermeasures and collaborating with the Federal Bureau of investigation to catch these criminals. WAV Group was provided with an insiders’ overview of a recent victory by the FBI to shut down a huge ring of scammers. The story was amazing.

Broker Gets 1019 Listings with Buyside

If you are an enterprise broker with strong website traffic and large agent footprint, you may be a candidate for Buyside. Buyside is a seller lead gen tool that can be added to your broker and agent websites. In March of 2017, that is exactly what Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Arizona/Nevada/California Properties did and the results have been pretty incredible.

Impact of the WolfNet Pipeline

There is a silent battle going on in real estate search. As consumers visit multiple websites and have numerous searches saved, the website that delivers the first alert to the consumer gets the click. All subsequent alerts from other sites are rendered as old news: they’re unread and deleted. It’s only natural. Today, WolfNet announced a new service level of managing IDX data optimized for speed called Pipeline.

CoreLogic Trestle Web API Earns RESO Platinum Certification

CoreLogic shared some good news today. Their Trestle data distribution solution that provides MLSs with RESO compliant web API transmission capabilities was upgraded to Platinum-level certification. I am sure that they will be spreading the good news to their customers at the Council of MLS meetings that start in Orlando, FL tomorrow. Some MLSs who were on the fence about signing up for Trestle cited Platinum-level Web API as their demand. Now CoreLogic can hook them up with the highest standard.

Disruptors Are Really Only Innovators and Motivators

If you have not seen the 2007 film, A Hero Ain’t Nothing But a Sandwich, don’t bother. It’s a pretty depressing story about a young boy who gets hooked on heroin. But I love the title. It takes a word like Hero, with its multiple meanings and twists it into something profound. One of most important impressions that I got from the RISMedia CEO Summit last week is that the meaning of Disruptors can be twisted around too.

MLSListings Releases Whitepaper on MLS Best Practice for Privacy

WAV Group has been working with many large brokerages around the United States to implement their General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance. For California firms, we are, at the same time, implementing the new Privacy Standards set to go into effect in 2020. In many ways, these regulations impact the same policies and procedures of the brokerage. The include website terms of use, privacy policy, vendor agreements, cookie notices, agent policies, staff policies, notices, training, and a plan on how to enable the right for consumers to be forgotten by all of systems.

MLSListings Turns Data Into News

In any market, the transactions that define market trends are evident in MLS data more clearly than any other data source. However, third party companies like portals and public record firms have become the de facto source of market information to the major media outlets. A number of years ago, the Council of MLSs (CMLS) explored hiring a Chief Economist and a PR firm to position MLSs as the most valued source of market data. For a number of reasons, CMLS did not pursue the strategy, but did create a focus on establishing best practices for MLSs to effectively communicate [...]

MLS Fair Input Guidelines

Mitch Skinner of the law firm, Larson Skinner did a wonderful post on their website that drafted a framework around MLS Fair Input Guidelines. This is a major topic for our nation’s MLSs and it is time for collaboration and thought leadership. Let me begin by complimenting Skinner on his efforts. If you have not seen the post, you may want to buzz over and look at A Conversation About Fair Input Guidelines before contemplating this article. My hope is that this will be on the agenda at the upcoming fall conference of the Council of MLS in Orlando, hosted by My Florida Regional MLS.
