William Raveis Wins Inman Most Innovative Real Estate Brokerage Award

Last Thursday afternoon was a surreal moment for William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance.   The company was announced as the “Most Innovative Brokerage or Franchise” at Inman News’ 2011 Innovator Awards, held in the beautiful Hilton San Francisco. Inman’s Annual Innovator Awards recognize exceptional national achievements in real estate technology and marketing.  To give a simple analogy: winning an Innovator Award is akin to winning an Oscar at the Academy Awards.  Every year, the real estate glitterati, from world renowned brokerages to Silicon Valley startups-gone-mainstream, gather in San Francisco and New York to talk about [...]

Turn Social Networking into a Lead Generation Engine

While social media has become a very important part of the real estate sales process, many agents still struggle with how to leverage it effectively. Move, Inc. must have recognized this challenge that agents are facing, and they have come up with a solution to help agents deal with this problem. The company announced this week that they have purchased the SocialBios platform. SocialBios allows individuals and companies to create one social hub for their online profiles [...]

Good Sales People Like Tension!

Want to Lose a Sale?  Be a Therapist! If you are a sales person, selling anything from property to technology, have you ever made this classic mistake?  Your customer has entered the buying process, for whatever the product is, a house, a new MLS system, a new website, whatever, and you have a chance to sell them your product.  They have reached what I will call the “threshold of activation” meaning simply that enough energy exists around an event for them to take action on it.  They have experienced a business pain or recognized some lack in how they are [...]

Online Reputation for Brokers and Agents

In real estate, QSC is the leader in Agent Ratings, but today, Facebook is raising the bar and having an impact on the online reputation of agents and brokers. Facebook is big, really big. In fact, it is the most heavily trafficked website in America. It is bigger than Google! And it has an impact on your broker and agent brand – especially if you do not have a facebook page. Although Google is the leader in search, Facebook is catching up and they have partnered with Microsoft Bing to deliver search results that are informed by your friends. When [...]

Fannie Mae Requires LockBoxes for their Properties as of July 1, 2011

In research we conducted a few months ago on behalf of the National Association of REALTORS®, we heard many agents express concern about the many REO homes they had seen that were not protected by lockboxes. They told us that many REO agents were using “Masterlocks” like the ones we used to have on our high school lockers instead.  Agents were concerned about the safety of the home, not to mention the lack of professionalism that type of lock projected. According to a press release just released by SUPRA, Fannie Mae has informed its listing brokers and Asset Management Providers [...]

The Era of Listing Syndication Security

We have entered a new era in real estate called the Era of Listing Syndication Security. Listing Syndication Security is a technology solution that solves many of the legal and technical concerns related to sending listings to third party websites (Zillow, Trulia, et al) in the form of advertising. WAV Group has published numerous papers on the topic over-viewing the key issues of Terms of Use, Accuracy of Online Listings, Indexing, and so forth. Since its inception 4 or 5 years ago, Listing Syndication has been fraught with business problems typical of any circumstance where many people are sending information [...]
