Sam DeBord Becomes RESO CEO

By |2019-04-11T13:11:41-07:00April 11th, 2019|Clients, Press Releases, RESO, Technology|3 Comments

The evolution of data management standards has been driven by generous contributions of the best minds in real estate technology, shepherded by Jeremy Crawford over the past two years. Today, WAV Group welcomes another great leader to RESO, Sam DeBord. His credentials are outstanding. The RESO announcement is important because MLS systems in America are the platform for data management in real estate. Since its inception, MLSs found their own path to creating data schemas, like data payloads, data fields, and data business rules. As brokers and agents have evolved their application diversity in their business from property search [...]

Telling Your Data Story – Easy Access to RESO’s Organization Unique Identifier with Microsoft Power BI.

By |2020-01-17T13:51:47-08:00November 26th, 2018|Business Intelligence|0 Comments

I have been working with the Organization Unique Identifier (OUID) data from the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) for over the last nine months. RESO OUID data combined with other data sets for business analysis is critical for today’s enterprising brokerages. My task was to see how I can make it easy for others to access the RESO OUID and incorporate other data for analysis. The answer – Microsoft Power BI.

CoreLogic shared some good news today. Their Trestle data distribution solution that provides MLSs with RESO compliant web API transmission capabilities was upgraded to Platinum-level certification. I am sure that they will be spreading the good news to their customers at the Council of MLS meetings that start in Orlando, FL tomorrow. Some MLSs who were on the fence about signing up for Trestle cited Platinum-level Web API as their demand. Now CoreLogic can hook them up with the highest standard.

By |2018-05-02T09:25:39-07:00May 2nd, 2018|Main category, Press Releases, RESO, Technology|0 Comments

RESO sold out its Spring Tech Summit in Denver last week three times, organizers said. Demand by industry tech and business leaders wanting to attend within the last two weeks forced the nonprofit to re-open registration twice until it pushed to capacity. The Real Estate Standards Organization filled the main ballroom to the brim, with just short of 300 people, at the hip Curtis Hotel in downtown Denver. Art Carter, RESO Chair and head of the largest MLS in the nation CRMLS, noted how far the organization had come in the last five years. One of the most vital breakthroughs: [...]

RESO Is Lighting Up $1 Billion In Savings For The Real Estate Industry

By |2018-04-16T09:15:44-07:00April 16th, 2018|Main category|0 Comments

Homes.com recently put RESO Standards to the test.  What is the real business value of RESO Data Standards?  A new Homes.com Case Study shed some serious light on the subject.  They have proven that moving to standardized data and the RESO Web API is saving them thousands of dollars in development time, allowing them to redeploy that energy to more innovative endeavors. We hear often that “nobody” is asking to leverage RESO data standards in local MLS data feeds yet.  This exciting news is going to change that.

RESO Confabs are Real Estate’s Club 33

Denver will be my fourth RESO Spring Tech Summit. Compared to many of the RESO leadership, who, like WAV Group, work for companies that are charter members, I’m still a newbie. Even so, RESO conferences have come a long way from the Chicago spring meeting I attended in 2015 at the NAR HQ.

NAR Gets Serious About RESO Compliance

By |2018-02-02T10:21:56-08:00February 2nd, 2018|IDX, MLS Insights, NAR, RESO|0 Comments

The National Association of REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer, Bob Goldberg has been making some impressive moves this week. The first move is to send threatening letters to about 90 MLSs who have not adopted the RESO Standards or are not adhering to the MLS Policy required to maintain NAR affiliation.  Some of the MLSs are being cited for not being certified with the RESO Data Dictionary and some do not yet have availability with the RESO Web API. While many MLSs still believe that RESO is not critical to their business, we hear from brokers regularly that they are requesting [...]

RESO: Fairy Tale or the Future?

By |2018-01-08T12:00:38-08:00January 8th, 2018|Main category|1 Comment

It’s hard to argue that standardized input, distribution and display of real estate information is not the desired path for our industry to follow. There aren’t many technology companies that would PREFER to map nearly 700 individual MLS data sets if they have the data and a choice. The Real Estate Standards Organization has set out on a path to remove millions of dollars in cost to real estate technology development and deployment while encouraging more innovation.   Download the results of the study here: When you get past the obvious technical advantages what does it really MEAN to have data [...]

Heading to the holidays it warms my heart to think of the amazing progress that RESO has made in 2017.  In just two years, membership has increased 500% from 125 to more than 750 members!   Every conference sells out and enjoy great satisfaction ratings from members!  And finally, 95% of MLSs have now adopted the RESO Data Dictionary and well over half of the industry has been certified on the RESO Web API! Broker membership has increased significantly – RESO Broker members now represent over 900,000 agents. Just about every large brand is a member now – Realogy and all [...]
