Marketing tip: Pay more attention to Gen Xers

The National Association of REALTORS research experts continuously share housing data with insights that sometimes surprises or delights. Their recent look into Gen Xers did both – for me at least. Here are some terrific nuggets that I believe has one major takeaway. It seems all the attention has been on Millennials (or Gen Y) when perhaps we should be spending more time focusing on this ready-to-buy market, the Gen Xers. “Defined as buyers between 39 and 54 years old, they now make up the SECOND largest share of home buyers by generation, at 24 percent of all home buyers [...]

Best PR Quotes of All Time

My top favorite pastime is being a professional mentor of high school robotics team where I live, just a short ferry ride from downtown Seattle on Bainbridge Island. It’s a FIRST Robotics Team (4915 Spartronics) that I helped found six years ago. I’m the lead marketing mentor.

Lets Get Our Language Right

In real estate, agents and brokers talk about sales. They talk about how many and how much.   Time to get our language right. Instead, let's say.....   On behalf of our clients, we have negotiated XXX transactions for $xxxxxx.   Stop saying that you sell. Start saying that you negotiate. Reclaim your value.   Think about it.   Short post.

Tune-Up Your Listing Presentation

There is nothing more important in real estate than the listing presentation. It is the single most place where you position yourself as the prize, not the contestant. If you want to convert new clients predictably and sustainably, the listing presentation is the first place to start.

Successful Consumer Experience Requires Broker-Agent Partnership

Three-quarters of the year of conferences and workshops have passed, and a common theme – out of many – has appeared. The industry’s dive into the consumers journey in real estate is the epicenter of today’s evolving business models. How these business models deliver a unique consumer experience through the marketing technology stack (MarTech), requires that they solve the fragmented systems of consumer data and find consumers who only engage when addressed with the right message, at the right time, and within the right medium or channel.

Best Instagram Post Ever

When it comes to social media marketing, I tend to watch the strategies of teenagers more than real estate social media gurus. The gurus are great at what they do, training agents and firms on how to run successful campaigns and build authentic audiences. But the kids are where innovation comes from.

myPlanit Receives First Ever 5-Star Product Rating from Inman

WAV GROUP has gotten acquainted with myPlanit and it's CEO Adrienne Meisels. Adrienne is a fantastic person who is super smart and developing a very creative application that lets agents look at a map to see the places they have gone (like listing appointments, open houses, etc) and visualize their journey on a timeline. It's a lot more than that, but you can appreciate how this example would benefit an agent. Adrienne uses the term The Internet of You. myPlanit does the work for you by privately and securely tracking the things that you do, for you. Inman News gave [...]

Study Says Longer Tweets are Better

Twitter for real estate is a curious strategy. There was quite a bit of discussion about Twitter in some of the Facebook groups that I am in. #thatsfunny. In all seriousness, when WAV Group evaluates the effectiveness of social media marketing and advertising (those are two different things), the numbers prove out that Facebook is far more effective in every matrix of reporting. The data suggests that Facebook is core, Twitter is niche. If you do market on Twitter as part of your surround sound system, you likely already know that Twitter extended the number of characters from the old [...]
